About the role
We are seeking a dedicated, versatile Farm Hand + Maintenance Technician who has an engineering background to join our team at Hawkes Bay Eggs in Hastings Hawkes Bay. This full-time position is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our farm and ensuring the welfare of our flock. You will play a vital role in contributing to the success of our business.
What you'll be doing
- Primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of poultry farm equipment
- Assisting with the daily care and handling of our laying hens, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and well-being
- Collecting, grading, and packing eggs for distribution
- Maintaining the cleanliness and biosecurity of the farm facilities, including barns, equipment, and work areas
- Undertaking general farm duties such as maintenance and equipment upkeep
- Collaborating with the farm management team
What we're looking for
- High level of physical fitness and the stamina is essential to perform manual labour tasks
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow established protocols and procedures
- A team-oriented approach and the willingness to contribute to the overall success of the farm
- Familiarity with farm equipment operation and maintenance
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and biosecurity
- Reliability - strong work ethic and punctuality
Hours:
Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm (flexible finish times). Available for public holidays and rostered weekends (7am - 12pm) may be required from time to time.
